Quick food delivery startup Swish has launched a pilot for Swish Go, a feature that expands its service beyond its own kitchens to deliver food from external third-party restaurants and cloud kitchens. According to an Inc42 report, the trial is active in selected Bengaluru pincodes and marks a shift toward a marketplace model akin to established aggregators such as Zomato and Swiggy.
Marketplace Pivot Beyond 15-Minute Limits
Founded in 2024 by Aniket Shah, Ujjwal Sukheja, and Saran S, Swish previously operated a full-stack model where customers ordered exclusively from startup-owned kitchens promising 15-minute fulfillment. Swish Go diverges from this setup by onboarding external Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) brands, including Nothing Before Coffee, Mealy, and Taaka Chinese. Orders placed on the new service are expected to take longer and will not adhere to the 15-minute guarantee of the main app.
Transparent Pricing and Low-Cost Competition
Swish is marketing Swish Go with zero packaging and platform fees, positioning low pricing as the central draw for users. This strategy puts the company in competition with other fee-conscious delivery initiatives, such as mobility startup Rapido's Ownly and Swiggy's Toing. Rapido introduced zero-commission food delivery to capitalize on restaurant frustration over high platform take rates, while Swiggy launched Toing to reduce commission fees by delivering in batches within restricted radii.
Funding and Industry Economics
The pilot comes amidst broader economic challenges for ultra-fast food delivery formats. Swiggy shut down its 15-minute SNACC app earlier this year due to margin concerns, while Delhi NCR-based Zing ceased operations after overestimating market demand. Swish currently operates across roughly 50 pincodes in Bengaluru, Gurugram, Noida, Delhi, and Ghaziabad. The startup has raised $78 million in total external funding to date from investors such as Hara Global, Bain Capital Ventures, Accel, Alteria Capital, and Stride Ventures, including a recent $24 million round led by Bertelsmann India Investments.
