Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei presented different priorities for AI development during the opening keynote at Dreamforce 2026. In separate discussions with Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, Huang pressed companies to deploy AI while managing engineering risks, whereas Amodei emphasized shared safety practices, international standards and the unexpectedly rapid pace of progress.

Amodei compared AI safety with safety practices in the motor industry, arguing that companies can learn from one another and improve their records. He also supported broader international work on standards, framing industry leadership as an ongoing effort to establish stronger practices rather than a fixed threshold that companies can claim to have reached.
Progress Exceeded Expectations
The Anthropic chief said the speed of technical development and AI’s economic effects had surprised the company. He argued that current systems remain underused, estimating that users are extracting only 5% to 10% of the value available even if further AI development were halted. He pointed to wider adoption of platforms such as Claude as a remaining opportunity for businesses.
Huang Rejects a Speed-Safety Tradeoff
Huang characterized AI as a new industrial revolution and argued that rapid development does not have to come at the expense of safety. He described safety as an engineering problem and said companies should continue moving quickly while pausing when a product appears unsafe or organizational control becomes uncertain. His position placed responsibility on developers to adjust their pace according to product readiness.
Enterprise Deployment Takes Priority
Huang urged companies not to abandon AI initiatives when early deployments fail to deliver immediate results. He also called for Salesforce’s Agentforce technology to be deployed across companies. The Dreamforce appearances presented executive positions rather than independent evidence about safety outcomes, adoption levels or the economic value generated by either company’s products.
