Meta has launched a dedicated unit called Meta Enterprise Platform, marking a strategic move to offer its technology stack and artificial intelligence capabilities directly to businesses and developers. To lead the initiative, Meta has hired former MongoDB chief executive officer Chirantan Desai as its chief enterprise platform officer, according to a report by Silicon Republic on September 29, 2026.
Targeting Enterprise AI Stack Monetization
Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg described Meta Enterprise Platform as the company's next major business pillar. Zuckerberg noted that the unit will leverage Meta's existing strengths, including its advanced models, AI agents, large-scale infrastructure, and established advertiser relationships, to help organizations deploy AI for their business operations.
In his initial focus for the role, Desai will oversee efforts to package Meta's AI agents, application programming interfaces (APIs), and broader infrastructure into commercial products and services tailored for enterprise adoption. Desai previously served as president and CEO of MongoDB for roughly ten months, following prior executive roles at Cloudflare and ServiceNow.
Leadership Transition at MongoDB
Following Desai's departure, MongoDB announced that former president and CEO Dev Ittycheria has stepped in as interim president and CEO while the board searches for a permanent successor. Ittycheria previously led MongoDB for 11 years until 2025 and has remained active on its executive board over the past year.
MongoDB board chair Tom Killalea stated that the company remains confident in its operational outlook, reaffirming its fiscal 2027 third-quarter and full-year financial guidance initially provided on September 1, 2026. The database software company had previously announced a €74 million investment in its Irish operations in April to support engineering and AI growth.
