Romanian technology startup Kyndred has secured €500,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by Early Game Ventures. Founded by serial entrepreneurs Alex Bararu and Rares Mosescu, the company is building interactive AI companions designed to act as persistent digital entities rather than task-oriented chatbots.

Moving Beyond Transactional AI Assistants

Kyndred is developing software characters equipped with visual avatars, voice interfaces, and long-term memory capabilities. According to the company, these features enable real-time interaction and allow the system to retain information across multiple conversations over time. The goal is to consolidate separate application-specific bots into single, persistent companions that adapt to user preferences and assist with daily routines.

Early Game Ventures highlighted the shift from transactional interactions to ongoing digital relationships as a primary driver for the investment. Partner Dan Calugareanu noted that while conventional AI assistants focus on quick information retrieval, companion platforms rely on continuous engagement where users return without needing to execute a specific task.

Early Traction and Future Deployment Plans

Kyndred established initial revenue through a pre-launch campaign generated by product animation previews within its existing community. Three months after its initial deployment, the startup's first AI companion, named Maya, has acquired over 150 paying customers.

The newly raised capital will be allocated toward refining Maya's existing capabilities, developing new companion characters, expanding the platform's user base, and hiring additional technical staff, including AI and product engineers.
