Google has updated its Find Hub app on Android with a new feature called the Remembered tab, aimed at helping users keep track of personal items that cannot be fitted with physical Bluetooth trackers. According to Android Authority, the functionality uses Gemini to allow users to record the physical locations of household items using quick voice prompts, manual text inputs, or photographs.
Voice Commands and Photo Attachments Streamline Logging
Rather than requiring a dedicated hardware tag, the Remembered tab relies on user-provided descriptions and visual evidence. Users can activate Gemini by holding the power button and speaking a location, such as specifying which dresser drawer contains a passport. Gemini processes the audio, stores the detail, and indexes it directly within the Find Hub application.
For increased clarity, users can manually enter item details, add text notes, or attach a photo of the storage area. Photographs serve as a visual reference for storage boxes, cupboards, or rearranged desk setups, providing extra context when simple text descriptions are insufficient.
Integration and Practical Limitations
The Remembered section operates within the main Find Hub app alongside standard Bluetooth tracker tags, consolidating hardware-tracked and manually logged belongings into a single interface. Users can locate saved items by asking Gemini for their position, which brings up the saved text location and any accompanying photos.
Because the feature relies entirely on manual user inputs rather than active real-time location signals, its accuracy depends on whether the saved information is kept up to date. If an item is relocated without updating the record inside Find Hub, the system will direct the user to the previously recorded location. As a result, the tool acts as a contextual note system for static objects rather than a real-time tracking replacement for frequently misplaced items like keys or wallets.
