Cori Clinical has raised $4 million in a seed funding round led by venture capital firm Breega, with participation from Enzo, Heartfelt, Together Ventures, and Bynd. Founded by Chief Executive Officer Jorn Jansen Schoonhoven and Chief Technology Officer Patricio Fernández, the platform uses artificial intelligence to streamline fragmented workflows and cut delays during clinical trial planning.
Unifying Regulatory Intelligence into a Living Blueprint
Designing clinical trials currently forces research teams to pull information from isolated internal archives and separate regulatory guidance documents. Cori Clinical's workspace aggregates historical trial data from within an organization and integrates external intelligence from trial registries and public health agencies, including the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), and the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
The software assists teams in turning an initial study brief into a full protocol, regulatory submission package, and execution outline. Rather than addressing isolated documentation steps, the system establishes a living blueprint that connects study design decisions directly to operational plans, budgets, and project timelines.
Internal Projections and Deployment Traction
According to internal modeling based on historical modification rates, participant onboarding schedules, and average setup expenditures, Cori Clinical estimates its system can reduce trial setup costs by at least 33 percent. In internal evaluation benchmarks against amendments from completed studies, the company's AI reviewer identified 82 percent of protocol errors classified as avoidable.
The startup is currently working with two of the five largest global enterprise clinical research organizations. The platform has also been deployed at Erasmus MC, an academic medical center and university hospital in Rotterdam, where it supported two clinical trials in neurosurgery and neuro-oncology.
Team Expansion and Roadmap
To bolster its clinical operations, Cori Clinical has brought on Dr. Emma Ogburn as Chief Clinical Officer, bringing direct experience in managing trial startup schedules.
The company plans to use the seed investment to expand its delivery capacity, hire additional staff, and deepen the regulatory and clinical datasets inside its platform. The funding will also support efforts to broaden commercial partnerships across pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations.
