Enterprise DevOps vendor CloudBees is actively reorienting its overarching product strategy around an AI-first architecture designed to support organizations facing a dramatic rise in machine-generated code. Speaking at the WeAreDevelopers Conference in San Jose, CloudBees Chief Executive Officer Mo Plassnig detailed how the company intends to update its continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) infrastructure to manage the higher velocity and volume of software being delivered across complex enterprise environments.
Managing Increased Code Generation
The new strategic direction at CloudBees comes as generative AI developer tools rapidly increase the speed and total volume of code created across modern software engineering teams. Plassnig, who co-founded the continuous deployment platform CodeShip before its acquisition by CloudBees eight years ago, highlighted that the main challenge for large companies today is managing this heightened code throughput. As AI coding tools allow engineers to output features and fixes at unprecedented rates, the primary bottleneck shifts to validating, testing, and deploying these contributions safely. Enterprise engineering organizations need automated delivery pipelines that can digest massive streams of code without compromising system stability.
Enterprise Process and Security Challenges
Insights gathered from technical leaders at Fortune 500 enterprises indicate that integrating autonomous agentic coding tools requires changes that extend well beyond adopting new software utilities. Operational success demands significant adjustments to organizational processes, governance structures, and security validation routines to handle continuous code generation safely.
To help clients address these challenges, CloudBees is updating its foundational infrastructure portfolio. This includes modernizing its core commercial DevOps platforms as well as extending capability support for the open-source Jenkins project, enabling enterprise teams to securely process AI-assisted additions within existing delivery workflows.
