UK-based artificial intelligence startup Zenithon has successfully secured $10 million in a new funding round to develop advanced AI world models specifically tailored for extreme physics applications. The investment round features participation from notable venture capital firms including BACKED, Lunar, Seraphim, MMC, and SOSV, alongside individual investments from prominent technology startup founders and hyperscaler executives. The capital injection will enable the company to accelerate its software development and scale its underlying research infrastructure.

Simulating Complex Physical Systems

Zenithon is developing specialized artificial intelligence models engineered to comprehend and predict the underlying mechanics of highly complex physical systems. The company's primary focus centers on delivering highly accurate engineering predictions for demanding deep-tech sectors, such as nuclear fusion energy systems, aerospace propulsion devices, and microchip fabrication processes.

In modern engineering, traditional physics-based computational simulations can take multiple days or even weeks per run. This significant time requirement limits research and development teams to exploring only a tiny fraction of possible structural and operational design configurations. Zenithon estimates that its physics-informed world models will be capable of evaluating up to one million design parameters in the exact timeframe required for a single traditional simulation run, while continuously training on real-world experimental data.

Team and Operational Strategy

The enterprise was co-founded by Alex Higginbottom and Abetharan Antony, who have brought together an experienced group of machine learning researchers drawn from renowned academic and technical institutions. Zenithon has also established a distinguished board of advisers, which includes Charlie Songhurst, former head of strategy at Microsoft and current Meta board director; Dan Brunner, former chief technology officer at Commonwealth Fusion Systems; and Zongyi Li, an Assistant Professor at New York University.

Management plans to divide the $10 million funding between acquiring high-performance computational resources and expanding its engineering workforce. To maintain a rapid pace of innovation, Zenithon aims to deploy new model updates on a regular three-month cycle while expanding its presence in San Francisco and establishing strategic operations across the United States.
