Unity has launched Unity Simulation Pro in Early Access, a supported robotics simulation package for teams building and validating systems in Unity. The package is compatible with Unity 6.3 and newer, and requires a Unity Industry license.

Core developer tools

Simulation Pro brings several robotics workflows into one package. It includes a URDF importer that preserves a robot's kinematic chain, along with built-in configurations for LiDAR, image and inertial measurement unit sensors. It also connects simulations to systems using Robot Operating System 2.

A headless Linux build target allows teams to run simulations without a graphical interface and execute them in parallel on existing hardware. That is aimed at validation, sensor testing and synthetic-data workflows where repeated simulation runs matter more than interactive presentation.

Examples from industry

Unity cites TIER IV's AWSIM, an open-source simulator for testing Autoware, as an example of autonomous-driving work built with Unity. The project uses multiple camera feeds, physics simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing to reproduce sensor output before deployment to a physical test vehicle.

The company also describes projects from the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology and Medtronic. KITECH built a digital twin of a metal-casting plant from point-cloud scans and generated more than 100,000 pre-labeled training frames in 14 weeks. Medtronic used Unity for data logging and playback around a digital twin of its Hugo robotic-assisted surgery system, covering 195 procedures across five sites.

Availability and limits

Early Access began on September 22, 2026. Unity says the package is fully supported, but access is limited to customers with a Unity Industry license, and the source does not provide pricing or broader licensing details. Unity also offers a robotics learning pathway through Unity Academy and directs developers to its package documentation and Discussions forum.
