The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered has achieved a new peak concurrent player record on Steam shortly after its debut, surging past 120,000 active users according to data from SteamDB. The milestone surpasses the game's previous record of 103,329 players recorded in January 2020 following the premiere of the Netflix adaptation, as well as its original 2015 launch peak of approximately 92,000 concurrent players.
Visual Upgrades and Platform Availability
Announced at Gamescom, the remaster was designed by developer CD Projekt Red to bring the decade-old title up to modern standard visual, performance, and gameplay expectations. The release is delivered as a free upgrade for existing owners across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Hardware Requirements and Wider Reach
To support the updated rendering options, CD Projekt Red updated the minimum PC system requirements to an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 paired with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660. For maximum fidelity with full path tracing features enabled, the configuration scales up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080.
Because Steam is the only platform providing public concurrent user statistics, overall player counts including GOG, Battle.net, and console platforms are expected to be significantly higher. CD Projekt Red plans to expand the game further with the Songs of the Past expansion scheduled for release in 2027.
