Chinese manufacturer SIXUNITED has released the AXN88B-160M-YD, a 16-inch laptop built around AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processor and equipped with 192GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory. The company calls it the first laptop to use the chip, although the source provides no independent confirmation of that claim.

Memory Targets Local AI

The unusually large memory pool is the clearest indication that the machine is intended for professional and local AI workloads. AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ architecture combines CPU and integrated GPU resources with unified memory, allowing workloads such as large language models to access substantially more memory than is typical in a laptop.

That configuration makes the system more relevant to developers and researchers handling large models or datasets than to conventional gaming buyers. Gaming laptops generally pair a discrete GPU with dedicated video memory, while SIXUNITED's machine emphasizes shared system memory and power delivery of up to 120W.

Workstation-Class Connectivity

The laptop has a 2560 x 1600 display with a 120Hz refresh rate, wide color-gamut coverage and a hinge that opens to 145 degrees. Two M.2 2280 slots using PCIe Gen4 provide room for storage expansion, while networking includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and 2.5GbE.

Its ports include two 40Gbps USB-C connections, HDMI 2.1, USB-A ports rated at 5Gbps and 10Gbps, a UHS-II SD card slot and a combined 3.5mm audio jack. The metal chassis also includes an RGB-backlit keyboard, fingerprint sensor, 2MP camera with an infrared module and two 2W speakers.

Price and Availability Remain Unclear

At approximately 2.1kg and 18.35mm thick, the AXN88B-160M-YD is portable but positioned closer to a mobile workstation than a thin-and-light notebook. SIXUNITED has not disclosed exact pricing or plans for a wider international release. TechRadar reports that the expected price is about $10,000, which would place it above many high-end gaming laptops and comparable desktop workstations.
