US expense management startup Ramp has launched in the UK, its first market outside North America. The company has been onboarding British customers since summer 2026 and named ElevenLabs and CRM startup Attio among its early clients.
Billhop deal enables expansion
The UK entry follows Ramp's acquisition earlier in 2026 of Swedish payments infrastructure company Billhop. According to Tech.eu, the deal gave Ramp regulatory payments authorization in both the UK and the European Union, although the company has so far announced a launch only in the UK.
Ramp has offices in London and Sweden and is working with Visa on corporate cards for UK businesses. Its broader platform combines payments, cards, vendor management, procurement, travel booking and automated bookkeeping.
ElevenLabs tracks AI costs
ElevenLabs is using Ramp for bill payments, corporate cards and oversight of AI token spending. Ramp says its tools can divide those costs by model and team, addressing expenditure distributed across providers, projects and API keys.
The company claims AI spending among its customers has increased roughly 21-fold since June 2025. That figure reflects activity observed across Ramp's own customer base, rather than an independent measure of the wider market.
Competition for UK startups
Ramp appears to be focusing its UK expansion on fast-growing companies. It will face Brex, another US expense management startup pushing into the country, as well as European competitors including Spendesk, Payhawk and Pleo.
The New York-based company says it now serves more than 70,000 customers. In June 2026, Ramp raised $750 million at a $44 billion valuation, nearly three times its valuation from a year earlier. The source does not disclose UK pricing, customer targets or a timetable for expansion into the EU markets covered by Billhop's authorization.
