An unofficial port of the Eden Nintendo Switch emulator is now running natively on jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles. Called ProsperoEden, the project adapts Eden, a fork of the discontinued Yuzu emulator, to operate as PS5 homebrew without relying on Linux or another intermediary layer.

Early Compatibility Results

Developer BlackBearReloaded has shared results from ProsperoEden v1.000.010, which is still classified as alpha software. Cuphead reportedly reaches 60 FPS, while Metroid Dread runs at about 40 FPS. Tested sections of Super Mario 3D World are playable, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe now reaches gameplay after previously failing to progress that far, although it does not maintain a consistent 60 FPS.

Testing Has Limits

The reported performance figures do not all represent sustained gameplay. Some were recorded in menus or on title screens, so they should not be treated as full-playthrough results. The project currently supports only OpenGL on the PS5 side; a Vulkan backend is not available in the reported build.

Still Unstable

Compatibility varies substantially between games. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is described as very slow and can crash during shutdown, illustrating the gap between launching a title and delivering a reliable experience. The source reports that the project has progressed from no working support to playable results in some 2D games, but it remains an experimental effort.

A Complicated Path

ProsperoEden requires a jailbroken PS5 and is unofficial homebrew software. The source also points to Nintendo's previous action against emulation projects, citing Yuzu as the clearest example, so the project's continued development may depend partly on how much attention it receives. The report does not establish broader compatibility or a stable release beyond the alpha build.
