Meta has released open-source code and software development kits allowing developers to integrate its Muse AI agent into custom hardware projects. According to the company, developers can program off-the-shelf ESP32 boards or configure Raspberry Pi devices to connect the AI assistant to displays, buttons, sensors, and actuators.

DIY Hardware Possibilities

The released code enables makers to pair Muse with various DIY setups. Meta highlighted potential use cases including loading the AI agent onto color E Ink displays to present reminders, attaching it to HDMI sticks for large-screen integration, or mounting it on small touchscreens to create custom hardware interfaces similar to a DIY Muse Charm. Meta noted that users undertaking these DIY hardware builds proceed at their own risk.

Muse Home Link Distribution

Alongside the code release, Meta introduced the Muse Home Link, an in-house gadget designed to interact with community-built skills. The device allows the AI agent to handle home automation tasks such as controlling lights, operating televisions, or sending documents to local printers depending on the user's specific system configuration.

Meta Superintelligence Labs' Nat Friedman stated that the company manufactured 5,000 units of the Muse Home Link gadget. Interested users can sign up for a waitlist spot ahead of shipments scheduled for later this month.
