Instagram has introduced Edits Assistant, a new artificial intelligence tool within its dedicated video creation app, Edits, available on Android and iOS. Rather than generating content or making creative modifications, the assistant focuses on performance analysis and trend discovery. Meta designed the feature after user feedback indicated creators preferred an analytical aid over automated creative generation.

Data Analysis and Audience Insights

Edits Assistant evaluates account metrics, including follower counts, view totals, video retention rates, likes, and shares. By cross-referencing performance data with current trending topics across Instagram, the tool provides feedback on what resonates with a user's audience. It also offers audio suggestions for Reels and Stories based on past content style.

Beyond metric evaluation, creators can query the AI assistant to explore concepts and strategies that have succeeded historically on the platform, using it as an ideation resource rather than an automated content generator.

Availability and Usage Caps

Access to Edits Assistant is available by opening the Edits app, selecting the Chat icon, and entering a prompt. The tool is free for standard users, though Meta has placed a cap on daily usage. The company stated that Meta One subscribers will eventually receive higher daily request limits.

The feature complements the broader video editing and real-time analytical capabilities inside the Edits app, which Meta launched to provide dedicated mobile clip editing and account tracking on iOS and Android.
