Meta Platforms Inc. has established a new business unit, named Meta Enterprise Platform, dedicated to commercializing artificial intelligence products and services for corporate clients. Former MongoDB Inc. chief executive CJ Desai has joined the company to lead the effort as chief enterprise platform officer following an 11-month tenure at the database vendor. Following the announcement, MongoDB shares dropped over 18%, and former leader Dev Ittycheria returned as interim CEO.

Core Offerings and Agent Framework

The newly formed business unit is tasked with expanding business adoption of Meta's Muse AI agent ecosystem. Its portfolio includes Muse Code, a developer-focused programming agent launched in August that utilizes an agent fan-out system to divide enterprise coding workflows among multiple subagents for faster execution. Additionally, the unit will manage Meta Business Agent, a customer support chatbot operating over WhatsApp that handles inquiries, product suggestions, and routine technical assistance.

The unit will also oversee commercial access to the Muse application programming interface (API), which grants developers access to Meta's underlying language models. The API includes access to Muse Spark 1.3, a model released earlier this month that Meta claims surpassed GPT-5.6 Sol on the AutomationBench benchmark and recorded superior results across five coding evaluations. Meta reported that training optimizations allow Muse Spark 1.3 to complete programming tasks using roughly 25% fewer tokens than its predecessor by reducing reliance on external tools.

Enterprise Security and Infrastructure Roadmaps

According to Desai, the unit will focus on converting Meta's internal AI architecture into deployable corporate services designed with built-in security and privacy controls. As part of its security strategy, Meta plans to launch Muse Confidential VM later this year, an isolation environment engineered to prevent outside access to instance contents, including by Meta itself. The capability will be paired with a continuous audit system so organizations can independently verify its operational isolation.

Meta's enterprise strategy may also extend to computing infrastructure. Reports from July by Bloomberg and CNBC indicated that Meta intends to sell excess data center capacity to third-party enterprise customers.
