Hellcard 2, the paper-themed co-op roguelite deckbuilder, now has a new demo available on Steam, according to PC Gamer. The full sequel is scheduled for release in 2027.
A dungeon built from paper
The game sends players through dungeons populated by paper-styled minions and dragons. Its visual identity is built around the appearance of physical paper models, extending the tactile theme into a deckbuilding system where players choose cards to survive each encounter.
Solo or online co-op
Hellcard 2 supports solo play and online multiplayer. A solo player controls multiple characters at once, while groups must coordinate their cards and attacks as they descend through the dungeon together.
Position changes the strategy
Enemy placement is a central tactical consideration. Monsters can sit within melee or ranged distance, forcing players to decide whether a deck should focus on close combat, attacks from afar or a combination of both. That positioning gives each encounter an added constraint beyond simply drawing powerful cards.
New gear, unfinished game
The sequel adds wearable gear for heroes. Equipment changes a character's appearance and can alter the deck, statistics and buffs available during a run. The current demo is a preview rather than the finished release, with Hellcard 2 still targeting 2027.
