Hark Releases Hark Pro AI Assistant Focused on Computer Automation

Startup Hark has announced the wide release of Hark Pro, a personal AI assistant built around automated computer control. Founded less than a year ago by serial entrepreneur Brett Adcock, the company is providing access to the platform through a free tier alongside a subscription tier designed for heavy users.

Full-Screen Workspace Built for Computer Control

Instead of positioning its product as a frontier general intelligence model, Hark focuses on creating an operating-system-style user interface tailored for computer automation. The platform features a full-screen layout anchored by a central chat dialog, a feed populated by task recommendations, and dashboard panels that display key user information. The software backdrop dynamically adjusts using custom imagery based on local weather and time.

Proactive Task Management and Browser Transparency

Users grant Hark Pro access to personal digital services such as email, calendars, local storage, and payment details. The system actively scans for required user actions, such as identifying pending expense approvals, unread messages, upcoming meeting schedules, and travel arrangements.

To execute web-based activities—such as navigating government agency websites to complete vehicle registration renewals—Hark Pro opens a small dedicated window that reveals the agent's web browsing activity in real time. According to design lead Abidhur Chowdhury, a former Apple staffer, displaying the agent's live actions is intended to build user confidence by providing clear visibility into automated web workflows.

Privacy Positioning and Hardware Roadmap

Hark is contrasting its architecture with competing platforms from large technology firms, emphasizing a privacy model centered strictly on completing functional tasks rather than building user profiles for advertising. Although deep assistant functionality requires accessing broad digital records, the startup claims its data handling remains limited to assisting with daily routines.

The desktop software represents the first phase of Hark's overall product strategy. The company is also developing a custom AI hardware device scheduled for release in 2027, with design leadership aiming to avoid wearable cameras in favor of a novel physical interface.
