Walmart-backed e-commerce platform Flipkart has acquired a minority stake in Delhi-based B2B travel tech startup TravClan. The deal is aimed at expanding international travel offerings and holiday packages provided by Flipkart's travel platforms, Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel, while improving on-ground assistance for travelers.

Enhancing International Packages and Ground Support

Through the partnership, Flipkart plans to integrate TravClan's technology platform and international partner network to build curated leisure packages customized to traveler interests. TravClan, established in 2018 by Arun Bagaria, Chirag Agrawal, and Ashish Thapliyal, provides tools for travel agents to build online operations, serving over 15,000 agents to customize and reserve real-time hotel, activity, and travel packages.

TravClan intends to deploy the new funding to hire across business development, software engineering, and destination operations. The capital will also fund investments in global supplier networks, core technology, and geographic expansion. Prior to Flipkart's investment, TravClan raised funds from institutional investor Leo Capital alongside angel investors, including Cars24 co-founders Vikram Chopra and Mehul Agrawal as well as Trip.com executive Travis Katz.

Flipkart's Vertical Expansion Strategy

The investment reflects Flipkart's push to diversify beyond core e-commerce transactions into broader lifestyle and service categories. Flipkart acquired online travel aggregator Cleartrip in 2021, later expanding it into corporate travel services. Flipkart Travel has similarly grown beyond flight search to include bus bookings and hotel reservations.

In parallel, Flipkart is scaling its quick commerce vertical, Flipkart Minutes, which operates approximately 1,200 microfulfillment centers across more than 150 cities, with plans to add 1,000 more dark stores by mid-2027.

Broader Portfolio Investments

The TravClan stake comes alongside recent early-stage technology investments by Flipkart Ventures. The corporate investment arm recently backed native-AI software testing framework Keploy and AI-focused consumer experience platform Alive.

To date, Flipkart Ventures has funded more than 20 startups across financial technology, artificial intelligence, logistics infrastructure, and e-commerce adjacencies, offering portfolio companies operational support and mentorship alongside growth capital.
