Fading Echo, an elemental action-adventure RPG from Emeteria and New Tales, launched on PlayStation 5 on September 22, 2026. A separate demo is also available on the platform.

Water as a weapon

Players control One, a young Legend trying to save Corel from the Paradox, a force that is consuming and fracturing the world. Her central ability is Æther, a water-like element that lets her attack enemies, alter the environment and transform into a mobile blob.

In that form, One can build momentum, travel through pipes, pass through narrow openings and launch herself across spaces. The game also combines drenched enemies with other environmental elements, including lava, toxic waste and Paradox corruption, to create different combat outcomes.

One system, several uses

The studio describes Fading Echo as a game built around experimentation rather than a fixed attack sequence. Players can use waves, charged Æther blasts and environmental reactions during encounters, with the surroundings influencing which approaches are possible.

That design also carries into exploration. Corel contains alternate versions of the same spaces, and One can shift between realities to reveal paths, resources or puzzle elements that are unavailable in another version. The shift can change combat hazards and available elements as well.

A fractured world

The single-player adventure follows One across floating islands and broken realities as she confronts Maddock, the leader of the Paradox on Corel. The spreading Paradox Corruption has twisted the world, while One’s journey also explores her past and identity.

One encounters a small group of allies during the journey. Their reasons for helping vary, including loyalty, guilt and having nowhere else to go, according to the studio.

Availability

Fading Echo is available on PlayStation 5, with the demo released on the same platform on September 22. The supplied announcement does not provide pricing or details about other platforms.
