Ahead of a major upcoming update titled Frozen Trail, developer Embark Studios has announced a zero-tolerance stance against cheating in its third-person shooter Arc Raiders. Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal detailed the company's shift toward aggressive enforcement, replacing previous warning systems with immediate permanent account bans for confirmed cheat software usage.

Strict Anti-Cheat Policy and Hardware Bans

Under the newly communicated policy, any account detected using third-party cheat programs or engaging in economy exploits will face an immediate, permanent ban without initial warnings or second chances. To prevent repeat offenders from bypassing restrictions, accounts linked to banned users will also receive permanent bans. Additionally, Embark plans to issue hardware-level bans whenever there is sufficient evidence that a specific machine is being utilized for cheating.

Integrating Machine Learning and Multi-Layer Defense

Embark is expanding its internal detection infrastructure by building machine-learning models designed around game data to identify suspicious patterns. The studio continues to utilize third-party anti-cheat solutions, including Denuvo and Anybrain, while preparing to integrate Elytra—an anti-cheat system currently undergoing small-scale testing in Embark's multiplayer shooter The Finals.

Grøndal acknowledged that cheat development remains a lucrative commercial enterprise that adapts as defenses evolve. Rather than claiming complete elimination of unauthorized software, Embark stated its ongoing objective is to increase the technical difficulty and financial cost for cheat creators while shortening the operational window of unauthorized software in Arc Raiders.
