Ema, a startup building teams of AI agents for corporate processes, has raised $77 million in Series B funding. The round brings its total funding to $140 million as the company targets work traditionally handled by enterprise software and IT services firms, according to TechCrunch.
Primary equity round
Bengaluru-based Creaegis led the financing, while existing investors Accel, Section 32 and Prosus increased their stakes. Ema said the round was entirely primary equity, with no debt or secondary transactions. The company declined to disclose its latest valuation, but said it has more than quadrupled since its previous funding round in 2024.
From software layer to workflow operator
Founded in 2023 by former Google and Coinbase executive Surojit Chatterjee and former Okta executive Souvik Sen, Ema connects to a company’s existing applications and coordinates multiple agents across HR, IT and finance. Its stated objective is to complete multi-step business processes rather than automate isolated tasks. The company initially works alongside existing software, while arguing that some customers could eventually reduce or replace parts of their SaaS stack.
Scale and financial claims
Ema says it has more than 50 active enterprise deals, over 1 million active enterprise users and has processed more than 5 million actions and queries. Its customer list includes NTT DATA, Hitachi, ADP, PwC, Google, KPMG, Wipro and Microsoft. The startup also reports that revenue grew 50-fold over two years and that bookings exceeded $150 million, but clarified that bookings include the total value of multiyear contracts and are not annual recurring revenue. It has not disclosed its current annualized revenue run rate.
Expansion plans and constraints
Chatterjee told TechCrunch that Ema can use more than 150 frontier and open-source models, while the company focuses on integrations, domain knowledge and orchestration. Ema reports gross margins near 80%, net dollar retention of about 180% and expansion beyond the initial use case at more than 90% of customers. Those figures are company claims. The new capital will fund sales and marketing, and Ema plans to expand beyond its main U.S. and European markets into Asia-Pacific, South America and parts of the Middle East. The Mountain View-based company has nearly 200 employees and offices in Bengaluru, London and Vancouver.
