Dune: Awakening launched on XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC and XBOX Cloud Gaming on September 22, 2026, with availability through Game Pass. The release arrives alongside a major update that adds a full single-player mode, extends the story and changes several progression, combat and endgame systems.

Survival on Arrakis

Funcom's open-world survival game sends players across Arrakis to gather resources, craft equipment, construct a base and develop a character while investigating the disappearance of the Fremen. The new single-player option makes that loop available without requiring multiplayer participation, while three presets and granular settings let players adjust difficulty and pacing.

Configurable elements include sandstorms, harvesting and XP multipliers, construction limits and item durability. Similar options are available on rented private servers, although the exact selection depends on the server provider.

PvP Becomes Optional

The update allows all content, mechanics and rewards to be accessed through PvE, so players can avoid PvP entirely. Funcom has also reduced some sources of progression loss and lowered rare-material requirements for late-game items, changes aimed at making the endgame more practical for solo players.

Book One can now be completed from beginning to end following the arrival of its final chapter. The Landsraad faction endgame has also been rebuilt around missions and 20 progression ranks, with support for both multiplayer PvE and single-player play.

Combat and Progression

Combat revisions include a larger parry window, adjusted enemy stamina and animations, improved enemy AI and the ability to dash through opponents. The update adds Dual Blades and Pyrocket weapons, while the Rapier has been redesigned around parrying.

A new specialization system covers crafting, gathering, exploration, combat and sabotage. Arrakis has also gained seven mission locations and six Imperial Testing Stations, where players can find schematics for modifiers applied to unique Tier 6 weapons and armor.

Platforms and Limits

On XBOX Series X|S, Performance mode targets 60fps at Dynamic 4K, while Quality mode targets 30fps at Dynamic 4K. The release supports Play Anywhere with shared progression, Cloud Gaming and ROG Xbox Ally. Full cross-play is not available at launch; Funcom says it will arrive later, with details still to come.
