Cloudflare has released 'cf', a new command-line interface available in open beta designed to serve as an agentic tool for its entire API surface. Built using Cloudflare's Forge generation pipeline, the tool expands CLI command coverage from roughly 280 paths in Wrangler to over 3,000 operations derived directly from the company's OpenAPI schemas.
Agentic Command Discovery and Native JSON Output
Cloudflare introduced the tool after observing that AI agent usage of its Wrangler CLI grew to 48 percent of total usage by late September 2026. Because agents frequently filter outputs using tools like jq, 'cf' defaults to condensed JSON output rather than human-oriented terminal tables. To assist LLMs in discovering operations without exceeding context limits, the tool introduces natural language command search via 'cf cli search'.
TypeScript Configurations and Vite Integration
The new CLI replaces older TOML and JSONC setup files with a unified 'cloudflare.config.ts' format, enabling language server protocols to type-check agent configurations. It adopts Vite as its default local development server, replacing the esbuild setup previously embedded in Wrangler. Cloudflare provides helper functions for environment bindings and triggers, and developers can migrate existing Worker projects using the 'cf migrate' command.
Availability and Wrangler Support Timeline
Developers can install the open-source beta globally using npm. For existing setups, 'cf' delegates build and deployment processes to Wrangler when handling Rust, Python, or legacy esbuild JavaScript Workers. Following the conclusion of the open beta, Cloudflare plans to release a final major version of Wrangler that redirects to 'cf', while maintaining support for Wrangler for 18 months after the beta phase ends.
