Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature its extraction shooter mode, DMZ, when the game launches on October 23, 2026, alongside its main Campaign and Multiplayer modes. Details released by PlayStation Blog show how the mode centers around persistent gear management and tactical deployments across Hajin.

Base Operations and Station Progression

Player activities in DMZ originate from the Forward Operating Base, a central hub that expands as players complete deployments. Players initially gain access to standard management features, including Operator selection, loadout stashing, mission assignments via DMZ Orders, and a target firing range for testing weapons before infil.

Completing operations advances a dedicated DMZ progression track spanning levels 1 through 70, which unlocks over a dozen specialized base stations. Players can use a 3D Printer to craft equipment from extracted resources, construct weapons in the Gunsmith using extracted Weapon Manuals and DMZ Cash, and buy rotating inventory from a daily Vendor. Specialized unlocks also include a Boss Board for tracking enemy targets, a Bounty Leaderboard for tracking player combatants, and a Dog Tag display case.

Match Structures and Combat Mechanics

Deployments into Hajin support three match structures: narrative Story Missions, Dynamic Operations that grant experience points and tiered squad Supply Drops, and an unguided Free Roam mode for open exploration. In-game zones incorporate variable Threat Levels, triggering heightened enemy responses if players generate excess noise.

Tactical travel across Hajin involves land, sea, and air vehicles, which can be refueled and repaired at map gas stations. Defeating roaming Lieutenants and Commanders awards extra loot and experience points, contributing to an overall post-match deployment rating where S Tier performances yield maximum rewards.
