Detroit-based hardware marketplace startup Bloom has secured $3.6 million in a seed funding round led by SNAK Venture Partners. The investment round included participation from Flyover Capital, Mana Ventures, Detroit Venture Partners, Invest Detroit Ventures, and the Michigan Outdoor Innovation Fund. Bloom builds AI agents designed to match hardware developers with domestic contract manufacturers, engineering services, and component suppliers.
Pivoting to an AI Matching Platform
Bloom was originally founded in 2023 by Chief Executive Officer Justin Kosmides to directly handle supply chain, manufacturing, and logistics operations for light mobility companies like e-bike and e-scooter makers. As demand for domestic hardware production expanded into sectors such as robotics and drones, the startup shifted away from performing operational tasks directly. Bloom converted into a software-driven marketplace platform, using AI systems to help buyers find niche component suppliers and specialized manufacturing partners.
Integrated Matchmaking and Transaction Tools
Bloom's platform coordinates both sides of supplier transactions by allowing customers to publish opportunities and receive bids from verified providers. The system manages quoting, booking, and payment workflows in one application. In addition to individual component sourcing, the platform connects buyers to providers offering contract manufacturing, design and engineering, assembly, warehousing, freight, repairs, and hazardous-materials logistics. Kosmides stated that approximately 30% to 40% of the platform's supplier data comes directly from participating companies and transaction history rather than web scraping alone.
Platform Growth and Supplier Impact
The startup reported that its five-month revenue in 2026 matched its total revenue for all of 2025, alongside five-fold membership growth on the platform. Lead investor SNAK Venture Partners previously passed on Bloom's pre-seed round before choosing to lead the seed round after observing lower customer churn and higher transaction volume. To date, Bloom has facilitated more than 2,000 matches across more than 140 client companies, aiming to help smaller regional contract manufacturers compete for major hardware assembly projects.
