Former Google executives Bonita Stewart and Jackson Georges Jr. have finalized an $11.3 million early-stage fund under BAG Ventures. According to TechCrunch, the firm is targeting AI startups capable of demonstrating concrete enterprise value rather than open-ended conversational tools.

Investment Strategy and Check Sizes

BAG Ventures closed the fund after operating it during a two-year fundraising period. The firm invests between $100,000 and $500,000 per startup and plans to deploy the remaining capital over the next two years. Its portfolio already includes 10 companies, such as software firm SXD, AI travel platform BizTrip, agentic reasoning developer Nomadic, and security startup Defendermate.

The fund targets early-stage startups working across AI infrastructure, compute power, physical and edge AI, security, governance, and vertical SaaS. To qualify, founding teams must have prior experience working together, a functional minimum viable product, at least one launch partner, and a clear model to generate revenue within 24 months.

Shift Toward Outcome-Based Enterprise AI

The firm's thesis assumes enterprise buyers are moving away from exploratory AI pilots and standard per-user seat pricing models. Instead, enterprise spending is shifting toward deterministic systems that execute specific tasks inside existing legacy workflows, such as automated legal document parsing and code reviews.

Georges emphasized that startups building thin wrappers over frontier model APIs face extinction as major AI labs expand their product offerings. To build long-term value, BAG Ventures is prioritizing startups that capture proprietary, unscrapable data, control workflow intent, and provide identity and security management for automated AI agents in regulated sectors.

Operator Network and Strategic Access

Stewart spent 17 years at Google as a vice president and served on the board of early-stage fund Gradient Ventures. Georges previously worked at GE Healthcare before joining Alphabet's growth fund, CapitalG. Together, they previously co-led BAG Collective, an angel syndicate with more than 450 members.

BAG Ventures includes over 150 limited partners, backed by Google alongside individual operators from Nvidia, Amazon, and Snowflake. The firm aims to bridge the gap between founders and enterprise buyers by offering portfolio companies direct introduction channels to enterprise software clients and dedicated go-to-market guidance.
