Apple has seeded the third developer beta of macOS Golden Gate 27.2, arriving two weeks after the release of the second beta build. The update brings technical refinements alongside new developer policy announcements aimed at tightening system data permissions in response to background AI software.
Tightening Full Disk Access for Autonomous Agents
Apple announced on its developer website that it will introduce additional controls for the Full Disk Access setting in macOS. The company cited emerging privacy risks associated with always-on AI agents, specifically pointing to tools such as Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots. Apple noted that some developers have been utilizing Full Disk Access in ways that present security concerns as AI utilities gain broader automation features across the operating system.
Interface Adjustments and Release Schedule
In addition to upcoming permission changes, macOS Golden Gate 27.2 introduces Siri AI capabilities in expanded language options and incorporates updated user interface sliders for display brightness and system volume. Registered developers can install the preview build by launching System Settings, selecting General, choosing Software Update, and opting into macOS Golden Gate developer betas. Apple expects to launch the finalized update toward the end of October.
Siri Architecture and Model Delegation
Separately, code analysis by researcher "pdfu" revealed private frameworks in iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate that point to deep architectural integration for third-party artificial intelligence models. The discovered mechanism, known as Model Delegation, allows external systems such as Anthropic's Claude to function as Siri extensions in a manner similar to the existing ChatGPT extension.
