Upcoming life-sim title Animula Nook attempts to differentiate itself in a crowded genre by placing players in a miniaturized world, according to a recent hands-on preview by Pocket Gamer. Set inside a standard bedroom from the perspective of an ant-sized protagonist, the title mixes traditional crafting and life-simulation elements with giant everyday props and environmental interaction.
Everyday Objects as Giant Environments
The core design relies heavily on scale shifts across its room setting. Pocket Gamer reported that routine tasks involve navigating giant desk props, such as finding a password written on an oversized sticky note and physically hopping onto oversized computer keyboard keys to enter code into a PC.
Resource gathering and navigation also reflect the miniature theme. Players use a shrink ray to reduce items to usable proportions before adding them to an inventory, hit objects with a giant lollipop to collect materials, and build structures using toy building blocks and bottle caps.
Wupa Companions and Navigation
Exploration across large furniture pieces relies on rounded companion creatures called Wupas. These cat-like furry creatures serve both decorative and functional roles: players can choose their appearance and dress them up, while also using them to glide between platforms by holding onto their tails.
Target Platforms and Control Considerations
While intended to deliver a cross-platform experience including mobile devices, the hands-on preview was conducted on PC at Tencent's Shenzhen office. Pocket Gamer noted potential control challenges for future mobile implementations, particularly regarding how touchscreen inputs will handle the game's precise editing and object rotation modes.
