Alibaba.com has announced the return of its CoCreate Pitch Europe startup competition, taking place in London from November 19 to 20, 2026. The initiative gives early-stage product founders and scale-ups access to a shared $1 million global prize pool divided between its European and U.S. editions, alongside structured mentorship and dedicated artificial intelligence support tools. Applications for the London event close on October 16, 2026.

Judging Panel and Mentorship Model

The 2026 judging panel features former footballer and investor Rio Ferdinand OBE, who returns after serving as a judge in 2025. He is joined by serial investor Deborah Meaden, entrepreneur and author Simon Squibb, and Jonathan Anguelov, co-founder of Aircall.

The competition emphasizes ongoing post-event support. Last year's European Grand Winner, 16-year-old Harrison Nott of CoolTowel™, utilized a $200,000 award and direct mentorship from Ferdinand to expand operational infrastructure and build international networks, leading to a tenfold growth in business operations over the subsequent year.

AI-Powered Startup Tracks

The 2026 edition relies on Accio, Alibaba.com's agentic AI business platform designed to assist small and medium-sized enterprises across product sourcing, market analysis, and store optimization. A specialized CoCreate Pitch Agent assists participants in converting early product concepts into actionable business plans.

The contest features three distinct tracks: General SMEs, 0-to-1 Startup, and Students. According to event organizers, the 0-to-1 Startup Track currently accounts for 65% of total applications, reflecting strong interest in using AI engines to develop prototypes and early business frameworks.

UK SME Adoption Trends

The announcement comes alongside research conducted by Alibaba.com and the Small Business Institute Research in August 2026. Survey data from 1,000 small business owners in the UK revealed that while only 5% currently use agentic AI regularly for supply chain management, 68% of entrepreneurs expressed interest in exploring what the technology can offer their operations.
