AI evaluation platform Arena has secured $200 million in Series B funding, pushing its valuation to $3.1 billion. The investment round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures, with additional participation from Salesforce Ventures, 01 Advisors, Dell Technologies Capital, Endeavor Catalyst, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and Felicis.
Rapid Valuation and Revenue Expansion
The new valuation marks a sharp increase from January, when Arena announced a $150 million Series A round at a post-money valuation of $1.7 billion. According to the company, it reached $100 million in annualized run-rate revenue in June, up from an annualized revenue of $30 million reported earlier in the year. The platform initially began in 2023 as a research initiative at UC Berkeley focused on crowdsourcing public rankings of artificial intelligence models.
Commercial Demand Beyond Static Benchmarks
Arena operates a free consumer platform where users compare responses across different models for prompts and software projects. The company expanded into enterprise monetization by launching its commercial service, AI Evaluations. The analytics product supplies model builders and enterprise clients with detailed metrics compiled from human feedback.
The platform's commercial adoption comes as static AI benchmarks face growing scrutiny. Industry observers and model developers have noted that standardized testing suites can be gamed by models optimized specifically to pass them. In response, enterprise customers have turned to human preference data to determine which models deliver reliable performance for custom workflows.
New Focus on AI Alignment Tracking
Alongside its funding announcement, Arena introduced an alignment category to its public leaderboard. The new metric measures models on specific failure modes, including unauthorized actions, false attribution of facts, and deceptive task completion.
In the preliminary alignment rankings, models from OpenAI occupy the top positions, while Claude Opus 5.5 and Claude Fable hold sixth and ninth places, respectively. Arena claims its consumer-facing platform currently attracts tens of millions of monthly visitors.
