Agentic AI forces identity and database security rethink at Oracle event

Oracle says the rise of autonomous AI agents acting on behalf of employees is forcing enterprises to rethink identity controls and database security, because agents inherit user permissions and can act on workflows without direct human oversight.

Identity as the new security boundary

According to Johnnie Konstantas, group vice president of Oracle Cloud Engineering, agentic AI introduces a scenario where an agent and its sub-agents function as a proxy for an individual, carrying those permissions along to access data and trigger actions. He argues that identity must therefore be uniform and pervasive across the enterprise, rather than tied only to human users.

Inventorying sensitive data first

Konstantas told theCUBE that organizations need to understand where their sensitive assets live and where agentic AI is being built inside the company. He described this inventory as extremely important, noting that Oracle’s latest AI database version includes capabilities specifically geared toward agentic AI workloads.

No independent verification of Oracle’s product claims was performed by the publisher.
