GitHub Makes Redesigned Dashboard Experience the Default View

GitHub has updated its platform interface, transitioning its redesigned dashboard experience from a feature preview into the default view for all users, according to an official announcement from October 1, 2026.

Streamlined Productivity and Agent Integration

The revamped interface is structured to help developers concentrate on priority tasks and streamline daily workflows. The layout consolidates active agent sessions, issues, and pull requests into a single location. Users can customize each section using filters to display up to 12 items per list.

In addition to tracking traditional human-driven workflows, the workspace incorporates direct actions for artificial intelligence tools. Developers can initiate tasks directly from the main view, such as assigning an issue to the Copilot coding agent or launching a pull request inside Copilot Chat.

Separated Feed and Reversion Options

To keep productivity tasks distinct from general updates, the platform introduces a separate Feed tab. This design choice isolates chronological activity updates from the core task management interface.

For users who prefer the older layout, the platform maintains a fallback option. Developers can revert to the previous interface at any point by selecting the dropdown menu next to the preview option.
