Samsung has officially introduced its Galaxy Tab S12 lineup, making a notable strategic shift by eliminating the traditional entry-level base model and focusing exclusively on larger premium variants according to Android Authority.

Design and Display Specifications

The new series consists of the 12.6-inch Galaxy Tab S12 Plus and the 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, replacing the strategy used in previous generations. Both tablets feature Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays equipped with adaptive 120Hz refresh rates, a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Samsung has also reduced the physical thickness of both devices compared to their predecessors, with the Ultra model measuring 5.1mm and the Plus model measuring 5.3mm.

Performance and Thermal Management

Under the hood, both tablets are powered by the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. According to Samsung, this processor delivers generational performance gains over previous models, citing 19% higher CPU performance, 17% better GPU output, and a 61% improvement in NPU capabilities. To manage the thermal output generated by these intensive workloads and onboard artificial intelligence tasks, the devices incorporate a newly designed 3D vapor chamber intended to dissipate heat more efficiently than flat vapor chambers found in older hardware.

Software, Battery, and Pricing

The Galaxy Tab S12 series runs advanced multitasking features such as three-way Multi Window splitting, Now Nudge, Note Assist, and AirDrop support. The included physical keyboard accessory features a dedicated Galaxy AI key capable of invoking Perplexity, while an S Pen is packaged with the tablets. Battery life is rated for up to 23 hours of video playback on the Ultra and 21 hours on the Plus, with 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0 support capable of a full charge in approximately 95 minutes.
