Indurex Secures €7 Million to Expand AI-Driven Industrial Cybersecurity

Indurex · Cybersecurity: Indurex uses autonomous AI to protect critical industrial infrastructure.

Industrial cybersecurity startup Indurex has announced a €7 million funding round aimed at scaling its artificial intelligence platform designed for cyber-physical systems. According to Tech.eu, the investment was led by Contrarian Ventures, alongside participation from Axeleo Capital and Curiosity, with the capital injection supporting global commercial expansion.

Addressing IT and OT Convergence Risks

As industrial environments adopt increasingly connected architectures, operators face mounting cybersecurity risks driven by the convergence of information technology and operational technology. Traditional security tools frequently concentrate exclusively on network activity, offering limited visibility into underlying engineering configurations and plant safety systems. Indurex aims to bridge this visibility gap by shifting focus away from network traffic alone and toward core industrial data, including process and safety signals.

SafeGuard AI and Engineering Intelligence

To tackle these operational vulnerabilities, Indurex developed SafeGuard AI, a platform that merges engineering data with cybersecurity intelligence. The system aggregates information from industrial control networks, safety mechanisms, and IT security tools to generate a unified view of plant operations. Utilizing autonomous AI agents, the platform detects anomalies, engineering deviations, and potential risks, while offering actionable insights and automated reporting for regulatory compliance.

Market Targets and International Expansion

Indurex currently serves mid-sized energy companies, manufacturers, and large multinational enterprises, while actively targeting utilities and data center operators. Founder and CEO Jalal Bouhdada stated that the company plans to use the €7 million injection to scale operations initially across Europe and the Middle East before pushing into the United States and Asia-Pacific markets. Meanwhile, institutional backer Axeleo Capital continues its broader tracking of the European cybersecurity sector through its published quarterly market indices.

Analysis: The Shift Toward Cyber-Physical Resilience

The €7 million investment in Indurex highlights a broader structural evolution in industrial cybersecurity. For years, securing critical infrastructure—such as oil and gas facilities, power grids, and manufacturing plants—relied heavily on perimeter-based network defenses borrowed from traditional enterprise IT. However, the convergence of operational technology and information technology has created complex threat surfaces where digital attacks can directly cause physical damage or safety failures. By integrating engineering intelligence with AI-driven anomaly detection, startups like Indurex are attempting to address a critical blind spot in modern industrial operations. Traditional network monitoring tools can flag unauthorized data flows, but they frequently fail to understand whether a specific valve setting or pressure threshold adjustment violates functional safety limits. Combining process telemetry with cybersecurity analytics shifts the paradigm from simple intrusion detection to holistic operational resilience. Nevertheless, deploying AI agents into safety-critical environments introduces its own set of challenges, including the need for high-reliability outputs, strict regulatory compliance, and minimal false positives that could disrupt continuous industrial processes. As Indurex prepares to expand its footprint from Europe and the Middle East into North America and Asia-Pacific, its ability to navigate these operational and compliance hurdles will determine whether engineering-centric security becomes a standard layer in critical infrastructure protection.
