Independent developer Jordan Juarez, known online as CircuitLord, has released a free virtual reality mod for the PC version of Titanfall 2. Developed over the course of a single month, the project adapts the complete single-player campaign into an immersive VR title featuring custom motion controls and vehicle mechanics.
Custom VR Controls and Reverse Engineering
The mod transforms Titanfall 2 into a stereoscopic 3D experience with full motion-controlled virtual hands and interactive cockpit environments. Juarez built custom interactive mechanics by splitting existing game animations and audio triggers, attaching them to VR hitboxes to implement physical weapon reloading and slide racking. The developer built the project using the community mod loader Northstar for game integration, while using artificial intelligence tools to streamline the reverse-engineering process.
Campaign Features and Current Limitations
Players can navigate the single-player campaign using native motion controls for fast-paced wall-running, gunplay, and mech combat. Inside Titan cockpits, players can look around the interior and move the mech's arms using their hands. Because the mod is still actively in development, some technical bugs remain. Certain weapon scopes occasionally render as opaque black surfaces, and specific weapons placed on the ground can be difficult to pick up. Juarez is continuing to update campaign mechanics, such as refining titan turning controls, and is working on adding private VR server support for multiplayer modes.
Hardware Needs and Installation Details
The mod works across all three PC versions of Titanfall 2 and uses a streamlined installation process that operates alongside the Northstar launcher. Running the mod requires a PC connected to a VR headset, with SteamVR active and an active login to the EA desktop app. Due to the original game's engine optimization, players report running the mod on modest hardware configurations, including systems powered by Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 desktop GPUs or mobile RTX 3060 laptop chips.
