Samsung has begun deploying a major interface redesign for its SmartThings app on Android, bringing it to feature parity with the iOS version released earlier. The update introduces customizable dashboard layouts and more compact visual elements to streamline smart home control across connected devices.

Customizable Cards and Visual Layout Changes

The update, rolling out as build version 1.8.51.30, replaces older visual elements with denser device and routine cards within the Home and Devices screens. Users can resize and rearrange these cards to customize their primary views, while direct taps on card icons allow quick toggles for device states and routine executions without opening secondary menus.

The main navigation interface now utilizes a floating bottom bar. At the top of the Home tab, a dedicated area presents contextual information such as local weather data and automated routine recommendations, alongside a Favorites section for quick access to prioritized hardware controls.

Updated TV Remote Features and Platform Availability

Alongside the dashboard revisions, Samsung refreshed the integrated TV remote feature within the app. The digital remote control component now includes support for a light display mode, as well as options for users to adjust its screen position and size.

The updated SmartThings build is accessible to Android users through both the Google Play Store and Samsung's native Galaxy Store, extending the redesign across third-party Android phones and Galaxy series devices.
